A Word For Living – The Normal Christian Life

crossThe NORMAL CHRISTIAN LIFE is almost considered abnormal in contemporary life. The Normal Christian Life should reflect the life of the Lord Jesus Christ. A life where one hungers and thirsts after righteousness. A life which shines forth in the darkness of this world system with such intensity that those who wander in this present darkness are attracted to its light, warmth, and sense of direction.

Hungering and thirsting after righteousness implies a burning desire to learn the righteousness of Christ. He taught much more about the thought patterns of men than about their acts. The one, who would live that “NORMAL CHRISTIAN LIFE”, will be anxious to make old wrongs right. Many of us are weighed down by our abject failure to demonstrate Christ-likeness in our dealings with others, both inside and outside the body of faith.

The “NORMAL CHRISTIAN LIFE” will be reflected in one’s desire to study God’s Word, and to pray on behalf of those God brings across his path. That one living the “NORMAL CHRISTIAN LIFE” will look for opportunities to serve Christ in and through his church. He will be prepared to teach and minister to those under his charge. He will seek ways to help them grow in the grace of Jesus Christ.

Now somebody might say, “That is abnormal.” No! A thousand times No! For Believers to waste their time in godless pursuits, filling their minds with endless drivel, and absorbing the customs and lifestyles of the society around them is abnormal.

Christ, through His Spirit, lives within the life of each Believer. He is a constant help during the trials and storms of life, but He is much more than that. He is able to guide the Believer into a life of truth and faith. A life which is more than just church membership. A life which is directed toward His purpose for that individual– where real meaning and purpose are exemplified through the daily activities of one’s life.

Some years ago, I was introduced to an attorney whose focus had been changed by God after a natural disaster had caused him to seek God’s way more conscientiously. His Pastor reported that this attorney had begun bringing to church several people, each week he had witnessed to. Now he is living the “NORMAL CHRISTIAN LIFE” which results in his telling others about his life and helping them to be confronted with the demands of the Gospel.

If a person tells me he is a Believer in Christ and that person is not attempting to share his faith and lead others to know Christ personally, then I would have to say that he is “ABNORMAL”. The “NORMAL CHRISTIAN LIFE” does not allow one to sit idly by as untold numbers continue on in their unbelief. That one living the “NORMAL CHRISTIAN LIFE” will find a way to share that Jesus Christ is the only way, the only truth, and the only path to eternal life.

Are you living a “NORMAL CHRISTIAN LIFE”? If you are a true Believer, you can. It is a choice. A choice which only you can make. However, please know with assurance, that when you do choose to live that “NORMAL CHRISTIAN LIFE”, God’s Holy Spirit will both sustain and strengthen youin that choice.
