Intemerate
Posted on November 25, 2009 | No CommentsToday’s believers need a return to an emphasis upon being “intemerate.” “Intemerate” means “undefiled” or “pure” and arrived in 16th Century English from the Latin “temerate” which means “recklessly” or “blindly.” We often seem to glorify those who have lived recklessly in their earlier years while remaining curiously silent concerning those whose lives have consistently reflected a lifestyle modeled after Christ. -
Satisfying Your Doubts
Posted on November 23, 2009 | No CommentsAre there really many of us who have not doubted? Haven’t most of us longed from time to time for some sign of God’s concern for our welfare? Has there not been a time when we have asked with John the Baptist, “Jesus are you really the one, or should we be looking for our hope in another place?” -

Moby Dick
Posted on September 15, 2009 | No CommentsFor over sixty years, Moby Dick has been standard fare in American High School Literature classes. However, Moby Dick was not embraced by the world when it was written. In the 1920's, about thirty years after Melville’s death, the world began to so appreciate the nuances and depth of Moby Dick. History.com also reports that the determining factor in the race was not speed or endurance, but rather reliability. -
Teaching Children God’s Truth
Posted on September 9, 2009 | No CommentsAs parents and grandparents, we must be diligent to see that our children receive the ongoing training they desperately need to succeed in this present age. If we don’t teach them God’s truth, the enemy will send a messenger to teach them the world’s error. -
Memorials to Our Freedom
Posted on August 24, 2009 | No CommentsMemorials play a significant role in our lives. Each year untold numbers of tears are shed as millions visit national memorials and recall the sacrificial lives of those memorialized. Vicksburg, Chattanooga, Gettysburg, and the mall in Washington D.C. are but a few of those sites whose purpose it is to remind us of the dangers of forgetting the past. -
Pat Garrett and Billy The Kid
Posted on August 21, 2009 | No CommentsPatrick Floyd Garrett found fame in Lincoln County, New Mexico after killing Billy The Kid and writing a book glamorizing the event. That is about all people know about Pat Garrett. Much of our lives are hidden from, or lost to public view. Proverbs 5:21 tells us that God sees and knows every act of our lives and ponders them. -
Determination
Posted on August 20, 2009 | No CommentsMidway through the second quarter, the Colts were down 21-3. But something happened on the road to defeat for the Colts. Manning and his teammates rallied. They refused to give in to defeatist despair, and, through grim determination, they fought back and with about a minute left in the game took the lead for the first time. -
Life’s Expedition
Posted on August 6, 2009 | No CommentsI’m told that the word “expedient” has as its root the word from which comes our word “expedition,” and actually means “bringing toward a destination.” How can one better utilize his time so that what he is doing is actually moving him toward his destination?
