Visitor Info

Thank you for your interest in our church…we love our guests! You can count on a warm reception when you visit. We meet every Sunday at 10AM for Sunday school, 11AM for morning worship, 6:30PM for evening worship; and Wednesdays at 6:30PM for prayer sessions and family Bible study.

You have questions; we have answers!
Many have questions about coming to church. Here are few that have been heard before, along with our answers to them.

“What clothes do I wear?” A church service is an opportunity to meet with God in a house and at a time dedicated to Him. As such, all attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately. Because this is a subjective decision, we simply ask that everyone dress modestly. God accepts you as you are, and we will, too.

“Should I bring a Bible?” Everyone is encouraged to bring a Bible with them to church, as God’s Word is extensively referenced during the teaching and preaching portions of the service. If you don’t have one, we can help you.

“What kind of Bible will be used?” The King James Version (KJV) is used in our Sunday school lessons, but the translation used in the preaching portion of services is at the discretion of the speaker. While the KJV is typically used, the New King James Version (NKJV), New International Version (NIV), New Living Translation (NLT), English Standard Version (ESV), New American Standard Bible (NASB), and Christian Standard Bible (CSB) are used among the membership.

“Where do I sit?” Have you ever heard, “don’t sit in my pew”? Don’t worry about that here; if you come in early enough, you can sit anywhere you want! If you come in later, you might have to share a pew, but don’t worry about offending anyone by getting “their” seat.

“What kind of worship experience should I expect?” Ours is a down-to-earth, small-town church. The service is neither liturgical nor charismatic in nature. We sing many traditional hymns mingled with praise choruses. Hymnals are provided without multimedia support (yet!). Congregational worship is led by a worship pastor with accompaniment by pianist and occasional back-up by a vocal ensemble and supplemented by soloists.

“I have questions…who should I talk to?” If you have any questions about the campus or facilities, ask anyone! Our people are always happy to help. If your questions are spiritual in nature, just say so: our ministry staff and deacons will be readily available to minister to any special need you may have.

“Where are you located?” Bay Springs Baptist Church is located in Kemper County in east-central Mississippi. Between MS Highway 16 (between DeKalb and Scooba, MS) and US Highway 45 (between Porterville and Scooba, MS) is the Porterville/Townsend Road; we are a half-mile down the Bay Springs Road which is almost half-way through Porterville/Townsend Road). Here is a link to the Google Map location.
