What is the focus of your life? For many folk it is the family. Both men and women seem to elevate the family to such heights that everything else is unimportant in comparison. One cult has become well known for the way it has promoted family activities. People are drawn to that particular cult because of the emphasis upon family activities.
Some folk emphasize success. Every event is evaluated in light of the potential for financial gain or loss. Decisions are invariably made in light of those evaluations. Others focus on status or position. The desire to achieve a place which is recognized by the world as successful drives these people.
In Hebrews 11:7 we’re told that Noah had a unique focus. He focused upon the unseen world: “By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family.” His focus caused him to open himself and his family to ridicule, scorn, & derision. No one had ever heard of a flood. It had never even rained. But Noah focused upon that which God had told him would come to pass.
God tells us that we should be looking for the soon return of His Son which will occur at the end of the age. Much is taught in Scripture about Christ’s return, and much is unclear. But what is clear is that He will return and that we ought to live our lives with our focus on that event. We are to live our lives as if each day is the last day and that He might return this day to bring about the end of the age.
Noah looked at the unseen future and built a boat to provide for those who would follow him. What is your focus on the soon return of Jesus Christ causing you to do that is different than what the world is doing? Where is your focus?
